The SSI Advanced Open Water diver program created by Snorkel Safari- Ringwood combines the theory, skills, training and experience of four complete specialty programs carefully selected from the range of SSI Specialty Diver programs and include deep diving, navigation, night & limited visibility and waves, tides & currents (drift diving)
The selected specialties have been carefully assembled to ensure the greatest value and quality of training whilst maintaining maximum relevance to Victorian diving. Victoria is renowned for producing some of the highest quality, most confident and safest divers; combine this with the fun and rewarding SSI Advanced Open Water program and you can be assured you will be prepared to explore a range of diving around the globe with confidence.
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver Certification
Upon successful completion of the four specialty components and verification of at least 24 logged dives you will be issued with not only four specialty certifications but will also be awared the prestigous SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition certification. Once certified; you will be qualified and experienced to dive to a maximum depth of 40m, participate in scallop drifts, discover the wonders of night diving and make the most of every dive by navigating exactly where you plan to on every dive.
Whats Involved?
The Snorkel Safari- Ringwood SSI Advanced Open Water diver program is made up of four (4) modules in addition to the invaluable home study components. Snorkel Safari- Ringwood offer a variety of course format options to enable every diver to complete what many say is one of the most valuable SCUBA programs since the Open Water Diver course.
Our Advanced Open Water diver program is broken down into four academic modules (conducted as either one half-day session or three evening sessions, available on both evenings and weekends) and three practical modules (conducted as three session, one at night for your night diving component and two full days).

Modular Format
The modular SSI Advanced Open Water Diver program is conducted over a combination of home study, evening academic and home study review sessions and three days of diving which you select according to your own schedule.
The student completes the necessary home study component of each specialty at their own pace, attends academic training and home study review sessions followed by three days of diving where you will complete a total of 8 dives. This program is ideal for those divers with limited weekend availability; the part time program is also popular with divers who may not have completed the 24logged dives required prior to Advanced Open Water diver certification.
Fixed Format
The fixed format SSI Advanced Open Water Diver program is conducted over two weekends (four days). The student completes the necessary home study component of each specialty at their own pace, attends one day of academic training and home study review followed by a night dive and an additional three days of diving where you will complete a total of 8 dives.
